Video-Conferencia con Jaime Oliver, Octubre/13/2011
El jueves, 13 de octubre tendremos nuestra primera video-conferencia (espero que hayan muchas mas) con Jaime E. Oliver (Computer Music/ Musica por Computadora).
La conferencia se llevará a cabo en el Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Puerto Rico (MAC) a las 7:00pm.
Se ha destacado por la creacion de interfaces personalizados e innovadores para la expresion musical con su Silent Drum y MANO controller, y tambien por su decision a utilizar Pure Data, un programa gratuito y de codigo abierto (open source).

Saturday July 23, El Local will be hosting our latest experiments. The great Polyhymnia (better known for his guitarwork with Tach.de) will be gracing us with his latest developments in swelling, morphing guitar loops. Gbln.shrk is the encarnation of Eduardo Rosario’s heavily modified guitar and effects, which usually results in hearing loss. Sadly, this could be Joythief’s last presentation in PR before he moves away, so for those of us that folow his work, we can’t miss it. Finally, yours truly will be presenting some of my latest work. For this one I’ll be collaborating with Themis A. Garcia who will help me construct some audiotape panels with raw audio material for live signal processing.

Epic Jefferson/ Ableton Live/ Escuela de Artes Plásticas de PR/ July 5, 2011
Yeah, I know the pic doesn’t have anything to do with Ableton Live but it’s what I got. Anyways, I’ll be giving an introductory course on Live to the Sound Art class at the Plastic Arts School of Puerto Rico. Something along the lines of mapping a QWERTY keyboard to trigger samples and effects and then dismantling it to be used in unusual ways, installations and such. Also, the use of Ableton’s session view to create “non-linear narratives”, meaning that any given sound art piece will never play through from start to finish in exactly the same way… possibly.
Joythief – Interview + live set
Joythief has been a main collaborator of The A/V Machinist Collective since the beginnings. He’s put in countless hours of work (good times) and as he puts it in his interview, some of his own cash. In my opinion, he embodies everything The A/V Machinist Collective stands for. Here we present interview footage as well a special live set by the man himself.

Serie Regional de Jugadores Pampers – Proyecto #3
The A/V Machinist Collective will be presenting for the Serie Regional de Jugadores Pampers – Proyecto #3, produced by Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueñaand Conboca. This would be our second formal “exhibition” counting 2009’s show @ La Respuesta. This time the line-up is:

La geometría, como elemento fundamental de la composición gráfica, abre paso simultáneamente a lo colectivo y a lo singular, puesto que si bien puede ser apreciada por todos, el significado otorgado por el individuo es íntegramente personal. La naturaleza de la forma, invita a una reflexión visual que permite imaginar y reinterpretar lo complejo sin olvidar su origen, para de este modo dar vida a nuevas formas.
